Write a Letter to Next Year's Teacher

It's the end of the year and with that comes the end of many things. You've finished the Math book, or the reading groups are done, or you're no longer switching rooms to do science and social studies.

These are good things, but they also leave you with some time that you have to search for things to do.

I have an idea for you.

This is a replay of a post I did 6 years ago. But it's easy and it's worth it. Click here to see something you can do in your spare time.

Making the Bus Ride Better on a Field Trip

Many of you are getting ready for field trips. Some of those field trips require a long bus ride. Here's what we do to make the bus ride less painful for the kids and YOU!

We prepare a clipboard for each seat on the bus. Two kids will share this clipboard.

If you don't have enough clip boards, use your white boards and a clothespin to attach the papers to the board.

Each clipboard has two Tic Tac Toe and
Dot to Dot games on it.

They also have a word search puzzle that has to do with the place we are going and two blank pages to draw on.

I grab some spares just in case! Extra sharpened pencils are a must too!

This crate of books (or two) will be slid back and forth down the aisle so they can read books if they choose to.

We also provide a juice box and crackers or pretzels for the ride home. Bring along a garbage bag and pick up the trash before you reach the school, so you're not leaving a huge mess for the bus driver.

And most importantly teach your kids to thank the bus driver as they get off the bus. A few kind words and deeds make their day more special too!

All of these things help to pass the time on the bus ride. What do you do on your bus rides?
