Last Day to Enter Sit Spots Giveaway.

Not only is today a great day to be shopping on TPT (you get 28% off your purchases! if you enter the code more15 before you submit) ....

...but it's the last day to enter my Sit Spots Giveaway!

Let me tell you one more thing about Sit Spots!
After one year on the floor of a kindergarten room, the Sit Spots looked a bit dirty.  So I scrubbed them a little with a brush and some dish soap. then I stuck them in the dishwasher. The picture below shows how they came out. (It's a bit blurry. . . sorry!)

They cleaned up very well. There is one or two that have some ink spots on them. ( I don't know how that got there!)
But otherwise they are good for another year.

In fact I suspect these are good for several more years.

I know many of you think these are pricey. But if you average that over 3-4 years, I believe you'll see that you got your money's worth.

If you haven't entered the giveaway, you have until midnight tonight. If you don't have a blog to share this on, you can share it on your facebook page, twitter, or any other social media that you have.

Good luck! I have my fingers crossed for you!

Sits Spots Can Be YOURS!

Have I told you the news? I retired in June from teaching 2nd grade. It was kind of a tough decision, but I'm very glad that I did. Now to sort through my basement full of "stuff" that I brought home!

Like ALL of you, my passion is teaching. So I couldn't quite give it up. . . completely!

My little building of 6 classrooms had some openings. . . well actually a few openings. (Our district so far has hired 23 new teachers and still has 5 more to hire. Plus there are many educational aide openings still to hire!)

My daughter in law has been teaching special education for 6 years. (She just had a baby boy 3 weeks ago!) She too was ready for a change. So she applied for a kindergarten job in my building, and she got it. But now she wants to stay home with this precious little man! (I don't blame her at all!)  Brecken Andrew is a handsome healthy little one.

I offered to do her maternity leave so she could stay home and feel that her students were still getting a good education. I'm excited to do this, to work with kindergartners and learn how they learn. I'm also happy to be able to help out my son and his family. She will take off 12 weeks, so I will be with theses littles until almost Thanksgiving.
My daughter and her husband had a precious little girl earlier this summer too. Kennedy Jayne is as sweet as they come. We can't hold her since they live so far away, but we do Face-time with them several times a week so we can watch her grow and change.
My daughter is also going to take off 12 weeks to take care of her. I'm so glad that the Family Leave Act was started and that both of my kids were able to afford to do this.

Back to kindergarten! Since kindergartners come to school with little knowledge of routines, I decided to get myself a set of Sit Spots to help them see where to line up.  Have you ever heard of Sit Spots?
They are this wonderful product made by a past teacher who is now a principal. They are like a velcro product that sticks to your classroom carpet. (But not the commercial rugs that some of you have in your rooms.) They come in many shapes, sizes, and colors.
One of the best things about them is that the custodians can vacuum right over them and they don't move one little bit! This summer one of my teacher friends left hers down and they even scrubbed the floor right over them with water and cleaner and they still didn't move. (In fact she has had hers for almost 2 years and they still look the same as when she first put them down!)

I'm happy to share with you that you could be a lucky winner of a $50.00 gift certificate to purchase your own set of Sit Spots! You can look at her webpage here. Take a peak at all the many kinds of spots that you get to choose from.

You're almost to the Rafflecopter.
Read a bit more and you'll be ready to enter to win these.

Here are some pictures of what they look like in my building:

They will fit on your typical carpeting,
but not on the fancy carpets like the one shown here.

This shows you the size of the circles.

One last piece of information. When you enter this give away, you may only use one email address. I want this to be a fair giveaway and allow everyone the same amount of chances to win.

SitSpots. . . What ARE They? You could win some!

Do your students struggle with lining up and not being too squished or not know where to line up? Do their lines squiggle and go every which way? Do you have carpeting in your classroom?

Then you just might like SitSpots.

Joyce from SitSpots was delighted to share what her company is all about. She knows that many of us spend too much money on fancy carpets so we can graph students. She's convinced me and several of my friends that using SitSpots is a much easier and cheaper way to show kids where to line up or sit.

You can use it to help your students sit so they are separated better, or to make a graph, or to be sure everyone has a place to sit.
You can even write their names, numbers, or words on them.

I asked these students to spread out their feet a little so you could see the spots on the floor. If I hadn't asked them to do this, then you wouldn't have seen the dots!

When the spots are spaced apart from each other, the students know where to stand so they don't bunch all up together.

Our kinders could not figure out how to line up unless it was a straight line. In this teacher's room she didn't have space for a straight line, so SitSpots came to her rescue. She took her line down and around the carpet and then around the last table. Now her kids know where to stand when they are supposed to line up.
These are a great size too.

I'm trying to give you a perspective on the size!
They come in many shapes and colors.
They are stuck to the carpeting because they are made like velcro. The vacuum can go right over them and they won't move. But you can peel them up when ever you want to if you want to move them to someplace else.
This shows you what they look like underneath!

SitSpots:
  • Offer every child an individualized place, spot, or marker to sit on during carpet/calendar time
  • Are colorful shapes made from a velcro type material that attach securely to carpets without glues or adhesives, and will not peel, shift, or lift
  • Cost $1.99 each - much less than expensive area rugs
  • Attach to all commercial/industrial grade carpets that are commonly used in public schools, buildings, pre-schools, churches, etc
