A $ale to Bring Home a Baby!

I am loving this summer time! To be so lazy and to do what ever I want is pure heaven.

There is a downside to it though. .. . at the end of the day I think about what I didn't get done or that I didn't do. . . and then the guilt sets in!

Do you have those same feelings?

So I decided that I needed to get moving and do SOMETHING!
Have you heard of the Teacher Approved Blog? It is a very cool blog that hosts many good sellers and their fabulous items. You can subscribe for $5.00 per month and get a boatload of goodies that you will love. If you stop by and visit you'll see a bit more about me there! I hope you swing by!

If you have been following me, you know that my daughter had a baby girl on June 22nd.  She is perfect in every way, of course!

Now we are waiting for the arrival of my son's baby boy who was due on July 13th. He's very comfy inside his mommy, so he is feeling no hurry to come out.

In honor of this baby boy, I'm having a 20% off sale. It starts on July 15th and will go as long as I can hold it, until the baby is born. TPT only allows it to be 4 days long. . . but if he's not here by the 18th, I'll see if I can throw another sale from the 19th until he arrives. Good gracious, I sure hope he comes soon!

What better thing to do than to throw a sale
to make all of you feel better too!

I thought I'd highlight a few of my favorites in case you'd like to see a few things that are on sale.

You can click on each picture to take you to learn more about each one.

Subtracting with and without Regrouping is a good center activity where students match up the problem to the answer. They can use the recording sheet if you want them to, but it can also just be a hands on activity.

Your students may have used nonsense words in Kinder and first grades. But this set will take them a bit farther and expose them to more blends and chunks to help them figure out bigger words.
This Reading 3 Digit Number set is great for review for third graders or intro for 2nd graders.
This Back to School Pronoun set is also good as a review or an intro.

You have a choice now. You can go to my sale on July 15th or you can wait it out like this little baby is doing, and check out the sale in a few days.

Warning: I wouldn't wait too long if I were you!

Little Things Do Mean A Lot

It's the little things that make us smile isn't it?

I mean, I'd smile big over a new car or a new piece of furniture, don't get me wrong.

But the little things as a teacher, are the things that make my heart go beat - beat!

I've been doing a lot of cleaning in my room for the last month (more about that in a later post).

And I came across some short paragraphs that some previous students wrote. I mean . . . these kids are now about 34 years old. . . that's how "previous" they were. They wrote these paragraphs when they were 2nd graders in my class. The topic was When I'm 100 Years Old. . . ..

I have found a few of those 2nd graders on Facebook and have enjoyed keeping up with their lives, marriages, jobs, and kids.

I shared a few of these short stories with a few of them on FB recently. They were a hoot! I heard back from them and they wanted to know who else I had. I listed the remaining students. Those little buggers tracked down many of them, so I had to share more of these stories. They all really enjoyed them and were so surprised that I had still kept their writings. (I didn't tell them that many teachers do this and I have a lot more of other students writings besides their class!)

Then one of the students is not a "friend" on FB, but I certainly call her a friend in real life. So I sent her a private message and shared her story with her. She was very touched by it. In fact she admitted that she didn't have many things (if any at all!) from her childhood and that this short story was a blessing for her. Her mom didn't save things and she felt sad that she didn't have memories like this. My heart took a leap!

Now I knew. . . . THAT'S WHY I KEEP THESE KINDS OF THINGS! For 26 years I have stored those writings, moved to a new town 30 miles away, moved to two different buildings and did NOT throw them away.

I have made arrangements to drop these writings off to this young lady's house soon. Plus, I'm sure I have a yearbook that I could give her from those years also.

So when you're thinking of tossing some of those precious things, take a breath and think about if it could make an impact on someone's life someday. . . You just never know.

I have been a tad busy with my newest grand daughter and this morning I had to tear myself away in tears to come back home from Houston. I love this baby with all my heart. Just as I do Miss Tenley who is now 2 years old if you've been reading my blogs for that long! I can't believe that she is that big already.

I'll blog more about my trip and the next BABY that's coming to my family, real soon.
