2 For Tuesday Sale

I'm joining Cyndie Dunn at Chalk One Up for the Teacher and many other friends for a fun way to spend your summer. Every Tuesday we will offer 2 of our products at 50% off. You will be able to find them by typing in #2forTuesday in TPT's search bar and all the products on sale will pop up. They will only be on sale for that Tuesday.

Today the two products that will be half off are:

These task cards help students see which equation fits the story problem best. More practice with these, gives them more confidence on assessments.

These can be put together with the question on top and the answer underneath. This way the kids will read the joke, then lift the apple up to see the answer. You have all summer long to get these ready for the fall.

I hope you enjoyed this and will come back again next week to see what else is on sale.

Maybe you have something on your wish list that you want of mine. I'll take some suggestions if anyone wants to let me know what they'd like to see at 50% off this summer.

Get Up and MOVE with Math!

At this time of year, kids (and teachers) are tired of sitting around.

to be just what we needed!

I set it up in the hallway on a bulletin board.

(Don't anyone mention about how crooked the word Moving is!)

I backed them with a colored paper so they
would pop off the bulletin board a little better.

Here is a sample of what some of the pages look like.

I was ready to set my kids to work! I allowed 4 to
go into the hallway at a time to work on this.

With a white board in hand as a hard surface to
write on, they were set to go!

When I checked on them later, this is what I found!

So far my kids love this.
Plus it makes my room at least 4 children
quieter when they are in the hallway!

If you don't have a hallway to use for this, then put it in your classroom. . . or tape one to each desk and play it as a scoot game. This is a great way to keep them busy while you're doing some assessing or finishing up with report cards!

If you are interested in picking this up for yourself,
just go to Deana's TPT Store and you can get one too!

It just may be the thing to help YOU (and your kids)
make it through to the end of the year.

On Sale for Only a DOLLAR!

It was such a cold weekend in Michigan this weekend, that I put the finishing touches on a few products and even updated a few.

Are you wondering just HOW COLD it was? Last night we saw snow. . . . yes real SNOW! We had a frost advisory for the night and since I had spent so much money buying my flowers, and time planting them, I knew I had to protect them. So newspapers covered those in the ground and I moved those in pots closer to the house.

Sure enough this morning there was a layer of frost on my deck where some of my flowers WOULD have been. Whew! Glad I moved my flowers, Today the temp was 40 degrees outside and brrrr it was just too cold to be outside.

I want to share with you some new products that you might need to finish the year with.

This first one uses the 100's chart to help them count coins. You can pick this up for $1.00 until Monday night . . . late!!

Click the picture to go to my store.
The next one is a set of story problems. You will read these problems to your class while they figure them out on a white board or scrap paper. These are great to review with your students before they take any major assessment that may be coming up. This one is also on sale for $1.00 just until Monday (tomorrow) night. . . late!

Happy Monday to all of you. The countdown is on!

Text Evidence FOR YOU!

I just have to share a fabulous find. You may already know about her, but in case you don't I want to introduce you to Miss DeCarbo. She's a first grade teacher but she makes things for other grades too. I stumbled on her Text Evidence passages and they are a great fit for my kiddos.

Text Evidence Reading Passages SPRING Edition
Click on the picture to go to this product.

I purchased this set sometime last year. I used it with students who were struggling with finding details inside a passage.

This helped them in a few ways.

 1. It asks you to read it 3 times. My kids questioned this? Why should I read it 3 times? It helps them be sure they read everything correctly and don't miss something important.

2. It gives them specific things to look for inside the passage. They have to find things and color them a certain color.

 3. They have to write a response to a question. They can look back in the passage to find their answer.

I just purchased this set on Rare Animals.
I will be starting this soon.
I know my 2nd graders will love this.

Try some of her stuff. I know you won't be disappointed.

You MAY Like this MAY Linky!

The countdown is on for many of you. The end of the year is coming. Remember that excitement that you had when you were getting ready to meet these little ones? I hope you still have that same or similar feelings. It's a good thing to finish strong. . . notice I didn't say it's an easy thing. . . but we really must do our kids a favor and do our best to finish strong. NO. MATTER. WHAT!

I'm joining with my friends from Pawsitively TeachingJust Reed, and Inspired Owl's Corner to share my top 3 May Picks. I hope you find something fun for yourself. Be sure to go to their blogs and see many other fun picks from other teachers.

If you have been following me all year, you know that I have shared many pretzel, chocolate and M&M's treats. This one is so cute, when I found it, I had to share it. These would be great to give to any volunteers, Educational Assistants, team mates, principals, or secretaries.

These chains are so cute. You could make just one for the class. Or each child could make one to keep at home. Now is the perfect time to get yours made to count down to your last day.

Sometimes at the end of the year, the behavior of the class can change. I have used Corinna's Beach Bucks in my class for the last 2 months of school. It really helped my kids shape up their behavior and choices.

Even if you don't live near a beach, this money system is wonderful. It teaches about the value of money and also how to save and spend wisely.

Be sure to check out some of the other people who have found some cool things for May.

Incredible Equations!

Have you ever heard of Incredible Equations?
This picture shows what I'm talking about.

This can be done every day or once a week. But it should be done on a regular basis in order for the students to catch on and understand number sense better.

Here are the simple directions:
  • Pick a number for them to focus on. In the beginning of the year, pick a smaller number. (You may have to teach them several ways to find those answers, but in time, some kids will see it on their own.)
  • Students think of numbers that would have that chosen number as an answer.
  • They can use a variety of strategies to equal that number. (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Look for patterns that might repeat if you add one to each number or subtract one from each number. (52-27, 53-28, 54-29, 55-30, etc.)
  • Stretch their brains by telling them that one thing is the same as another name, like  5+5+5+5+5 is the same as 5x5.
  • They can add 2 numbers, 3 numbers, or more to get to the chosen number.
The kids love this and they love saying the words Incredible Equations. Great vocabulary!
You can do this on a pad of paper, your whiteboard or whatever works for your room.
Please let me know if you try this and how well it works with your kiddos.
